Born and raised in Ewa Beach, Bethany grew up in a family who all aspired to become apart of the healthcare field. Being in HOSA since freshman year was a great way for her to experience being in a competitive atmosphere, gain new leadership skills, and to ultimately be surrounded by people who share one commonality; becoming hopeful future health professionals.
Aside from HOSA, Bethany is involved in many other extra and co-curricular activities. Currently, Bethany is very active in class (’19) activities. She enjoys serving for her class and growing with them as they get closer to senior year. Beth is also apart of the Moanalua High School “Menehune” Marching Band and Color Guard as she is apart of the color guard. Being in color guard is Bethany’s favorite way to have fun while exercising. Another activity she is apart of is the Moanalua High School’s Symphony Orchestra. Bethany is a violinist and has been playing since fourth grade. She also enjoys volunteering at various events and at her church whenever she gets the chance. All of these extra curricular activities keep her busy and on her feet.
Last year, Bethany was apart of the 2016-2017 Hawaii HOSA State Executive council as the Leadership Intern. From this wonderful experience, she learned amazing, new leadership skills from the other officer and training. With this, Bethany plans to work hard in this new season of HOSA. She will do her utmost best to dedicate her time to this organization as it continues to flourish in success. Her main goals are to take part in expanding the membership growth in Hawaii HOSA and to also improve the communication between the officers and members.
Bethany’s favorite quote of all time is a bible verse. Matthew 6:33-34 says, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”. Beth was born into a christian family, so God is her number one motivator. This bible verse helps her always keep her eyes on Him despite all of the activities and responsibilities. Because she does everything for Him, He blesses her with all the great things around her today.
As the new secretary, Bethany will work at her best to continue to grow as a leader and help Hawaii HOSA flourish successfully. She has amazing plans and ideas ready to share to the executive council for this new season. Bethany thanks everyone for the wonderful support and can’t wait to work with all of the members soon!
